Forum Title: When does the average roofer retire?
When does the average roof retire; like at what age?Are any of you guys retired on here?Since I am just starting out, I just want to get an idea of how long I would possible be roofing for before I get the option to retire.

I don't think there really is a true average. I guess I would say that most retire in their 50's or 60's just do to wear and tear of the body.I am hoping to retire when I am 50 on the dot but time will tell. If I am healthy enough and feel good, I will keep going simply because I enjoy it.

I have to agree with Shawn. It really depends on your body. Most roofers will work as long as they can just because many of them have to rely on their own savings once they retire. I have seen some as young as 45 and some as old as 75. It really all depends.

He said he will likely not stop until he can't move. His wife was a waitress till she was 64 as well. Some people do love to work. I plan to retire before I am 60 but there is no guarantees.
