When you are new to roofing, like never having done anything on a roof, what is the first thing you want to learn?

The first thing....is SAFETY.Your mind is all over the place when your new....so much to think about, but remember the most important thing of all is SAFETY.Make sure you know how to properly set up a ladder. 3 rungs above the gutter....actually there is a free PDF download in the general discussion tabIt says this (FREE - Roofing Ladder Safety - PDF (Pictures)

I have to agree with safety being the very first thing that you should learn. There is nothing scarier than being that high off the ground and not being prepared for what could happen. Definitely keep your work area as clean and organized as possible. You then need to decide what needs to be done to the roof, whether it needs to be replaced or repaired. You can then go on from there.

Safety is always the main priority. You want to make sure you live to work another day. I‚d also be aware of those around you. Communicate clearly with the people you work with.
